Grace Estelle Curtis

Biography

In 2020, Grace graduated from her master’s in Advanced Opera Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama’s David Seligman Opera School where she held a Leverhulme Trust scholarship. She studies with Anne Mason and receives coaching from Nicola Rosa and John Fisher.
In 2019, she covered the role of Marzelline in the Welsh National Opera’s Fidelio under David Poutney’s direction whilst performing the roles of Emmie Albert Herring and Gianetta The Gondoliers with the RWCMD and Barbaina in Somerset Opera’s Marriage of Figaro.

 

​She was a finalist for the Janet Price Prize and awarded ‘highly commended’ in the Valetta Iacopi Prize. She also attended a British Youth Opera course with Stevie Higgins and Martin Lloyd-Evans. She looks forward to her upcoming roles as Despina in the RWCMD's Cosi fan Tutte and Amy in the UK debut of Little Women - both postponed due to Coronavirus.

 

During her undergraduate in music and philosophy at the University of Southampton, she founded and managed the Southampton Chamber Opera Company, held a choral scholarship as a member of Cantores Michaelis and worked with Romsey Abbey as their resident soprano and chorister tutor. She also attended the Italian International Summer School for Singers, receiving tuition from Roberto Fantinel, Roberta Canzian and Francesca Scaini and performing to Italian audiences. She was also finalist for the Isobel Buchanan Award and attended the summer courses of Dorset Opera.
